I'm a japanese car guy, but im trying to get something that will get me 0-60 faster than my subaru sti. I rode my friend's bike before for a while now and i would like to own one myself.
I'm looking for a bike that is mod friendly and reliable.
I've been recommended the ninja ex500 what would you rececommend?

Since this is you first bike, and even though I don't know how big you are, I'd lean toward a well used 600 Sport or Sport Tourer. They're less buzzy than the EX and if you drop it a few times (and you will... there's 2 kinds of riders, those thatta been down, those that will) you won't care about the body, mirrors, pegs, etc. Look at the Suzuki bandit (550) though I think you'll find it underpowered. I wouldn't go more 'n a 750 for a first bike. You can ALWAYS sell your first bike, the one you drop off the kickstand a few times, and upgrade to a liter class or something w/ more style and kick.
The 600 will be PLENTY o' motorcycle, MUCH faster than the EX and very tractable. Mind you, it CAN get you into trouble fast, but it'll be fairly light and easy to handle and'll get you a FUN 0-60.
If you have ANY desire to MX, look at an Enduro or Super Moto... they'll be VERY forgiving when you make mistakes and to drop 'em won't mean nuttin' to ya'.
