What sport produces the most professional athletes in the US?

One only has to multiply the number of teams within each sport times the number of players. My first guess would be the NFL. However, I don't follow sports so I am uncertain.

edit: Monster Brain (below) You may be correct. However, do minor league players count as professionals (pro-league)?
 
I mean quantity of professional players, is it Baseball?Football?Hockey?Or maybe individual sports like Golf,Tennis,MMA produce more professional athletes?
 
Professional as defined meaning paid to play: Baseball has 30 major league teams and each team has 4 levels of minor league play and each roster is 25 players so it is Baseball hands down with football being next.
