I am really expert at electronics except the speakers!! All the watts, ohms, sizes, everything! Well, car speakers sound really really terrible so I want new speakers, but just don't know which ones to get. I found some perfect speakers with like 200 walts but I am not sure if the ohms will affect it. I have a nice Sony stereo player so there's got to be some nice speakers too right? Can any of you guys give me a little guide to buying these things? After that I can go on my own. I just need to know if the wattage is big (200 or 300), are the speakers going to sound better? How about the ohms, does that depend on what stereo player I have?? Do I need an amplifier to punch up the sound? Thanks for whoever answers!

If I were you, I would go to www.crutchfield.com and type in your vehicle model and make and the model of your cd player, and it will give you all of the compatible speakers. And on the wattage, see how much true RMS wattage your CD player puts out, and then see what the RMS wattage of the speakers that you are planning on buying is. *remember-max wattage doesn't really mean anything. If there is a big difference between the two, get a stereo amplifier. It is very easy to fry the voice coils in the speakers by under-powering.

This is really easy;
Most all door speakers are 4ohms

These are the size of speakers that you need.

Sony 5.25 speakers are screechy. Most 5.25 are.

These 2 here are better without spending $300.

They will both work perfect with your stereo.

I like the pioneers but, a lot of people would like the polk.

If you add an amp hook it to a 10 or 12 inch sub. Nothing crazy. it would really help to fill in where the 5.25's are weak.

Hope this helps
