I'm thinking of turbocharging my Mazda pickup truck. It's a 2000 B2500, but the engine was bad when we got it, and the engine we put in it is a 1997 2300 (2.3L). The truck is completely stock, which is why I'd like to turbocharge it. The damn thing couldn't get out of its own way if it needed too; it's so low on power. The engine is in good working condition and doesn't require any cleaning. I may end up boring and stroking the engine to its maximum allowable specs, but I'm not sure yet. I know pretty much what I need to get, just need a little help on locating and sizing a thing or two.
First, being a stock 2.3, how big (or small) of a turbo should I get?
Also, where would be the best place to buy a turbo from? Should I buy online direct from a manufacturer (such as Greddy, Turbonetics, etc.) or go through a distributor?
And where would I find a manifold that is set up for a turbo? Or could I modify my stock manifold to fit a turbo?
