what size tire for my bike rim?

im an idiot with bikes

what size tire do i get for a 22 inch rim? i have a bike frame and the rims it came with it which are 22 inches and i need tires and the lube things asap but idk what size tire to get. i also have these set of tires and rims that are 20 by 2.25 could i use those??


help would be greatttttttttly appreciated
 
If the rim is about 22.5 inches outside to outside of the rim you want a 26" tire. You have to measure the clearance for the tire but you should be able to fit a 2.25 inch wide tire on it.
 
Be careful in selecting the tire. Just because the side wall says 26 x ?? doesn't necessarily mean it'll fit. The mm size, maybe in (), is the key.

I bought a 26" tire, Bell, recently and it would not fit my 26" wheels. Went to the bike shop and got another 26" tire that did fit. The shop owner pointed out the different mm sizes on the two tires, listed in parenthesis, on the side wall, beside the 26" designation. Crazy!
