what size of dirt bike should i get?

i am 15 years old 135lbs 5' 7.5"
i've rode before just on to short of bikes... like pit bikes
but know i really want a bike that is the perfect size for me
and i want one that i can race motorcross, and i want it CHEAP!!!
 
uh a Kawasaki KLX 140Lmay not be cheap. like 3,000$. I Yamaha TTR 125 would be good but too small. You are pretty tall so look at the seat height and tire size. I'm 5'4 and a Honda CRF 80 is perfect for me. You might want to buy an off road instead of motocross because they are cheaper.
 
I am assuming you are male so would suggest for you height and age that you go for a 4 stroke 250f and really any of the known brand bikes are quite good especially if you are looking to purchase as cheaply as possible. It is a better idea to just look for a 4 stroke 250f that has done the least amount of work while having been maintained properly and that way any of the brands could be the one you end up with. Make sure you take someone along with you who knows bikes and can tell if a bike has a problem or has had a lot of work. You don't want an A grade riders bikes that has been ridden into the ground as while it can have been maintained well it is the things like wheel bearings that don't get looked at that can give you problems and they are not obvious.
If you are just starting out and cannot afford a 250cc then you should be able to pick up a 2 stroke 125cc cheap as most people racing seriously don't bother with then any longer and so there are usually a lot for sale and they are cheaper. One would do fine for someone just starting and if you find you like the sport and want to change later you could.

If you are female then you have the option of a smaller bike like perhaps the crf150r
 
You might want to start with 125cc and have a lot of fun learning on it. You'll know when it is time to get a bigger bike. Or, you start of with 250cc or whatever. It has been many many years since I rode a dirt bike. I guess you should start searching craigslist.org for a used motorcycle. Craigslist is one busy website. Everybody trying to sell anything is on there.
