...the lease with damage resulting? Recently I moved into a place after I had sublet for the summer. Half-way through the summer, I received an angry call that my subletter had a dog against our lease. I called up the subletter who immediately assured me it was his friend's, who was visiting for a few days. When I returned to my place I found out from workers, other tennants and my landlord that the dog had been there all summer. My subletter denies it, but there is clear evidence with fresh dog poop and hair that took about 7 hours to clean-up. The dog also caused significant damage to the floor. The small security deposit from my subletter is not enough to compensate for the fines I will receive from my landlord. Is there any simple recourse I can take to have my subletter cover the fines?
Thanks!
