what should i wear to look cute while hiking?

i'm thinking flannel button down and jeans... and tennis shoes?
and curl my hair and do braids...
i'm thinking like a ca 1998ish look
what do people typically wear hiking? are tennis shoes okay?
it's going to be cold and rainy!!!! =[

Wear sneakers or hiking boots, something with plenty of traction. Wear long pants and preferably long sleeves. Make sure it's old clothing, because there is a very good chance it will get stained or ripped. Keep your hair close to your head and out of your eyes, and prepare for it to be messed up, too.
