What should I wear to an art reception?

For an art opening, it's fun to dress up because this is where you get to be creative. You want to look "artsy" but not too busy. Here are some options:

A fairly simple outfit, with one amazing piece of jewelry (like a huge ring, or great necklace. It can be an old or new piece of jewelry, the kind that will be a "conversation piece".

A great outfit, like a print dress with some funky shoes (and very simple jewelry)

A simple outfit with a great shawl or colorful scarf

You don't need to spend anything either; you probably have lots you could wear. Think either a great color or a great piece. Have fun!!!
 
My boyfriend and my best friends boyfriends are both artists for an organization who's exhibit is opening this weekend. The opening reception for it is tomorrow night, and I have NO IDEA what to wear.
Help please?
(he said to dress nice, but not too nice, and I don't know what that means in art show terms)
