What should I take in the Fall: American Literature or History?

I am an English major planning to transfer to SDSU in Fall 2010. Right now, I need to take American Literature and 2 semesters of British Literature in order to transfer, along with some general Ed classes I need to get out of the way (such as 2 history classes, a bio class, 1 art class, and my 3rd semester Spanish class).

In the Fall, I'm trying to decide if I should take American Literature (it's required for my major) or History 115 (which is History of the Modern Americas). I also have to take British Literature, so I know I'm taking that in the Fall.

This is the schedule that I'm looking at in the Fall:

Mondays and Wednesdays:

History 115: 11:00-12:15
American Literature: 12:30-1:45
British Literature: 2:00-3:15

And for Tuesdays Thursdays:

I'm going to be taking my third semester spanish class, but I'm not sure if I should take my bio or take an art class instead and take bio in the spring (the bio is a 4 unit class).

I was looking for suggestions as to if I should take History and have that hour break, or just take both literature classes back to back and take my history classes the following semester.

I know that I need to focus on getting my general ed out of the way, but I'm also worried that with the current budget problems my state is having, I'm worried that they'll end up cutting the classes that I need the following spring semester.

Any suggestions as to what I should do would be great. :)
