About a month ago I emailed someone to reply to a job posting. I am perfectly qualified, and this is my dream job. However, it's an entry level position and any ladder climbing requires a degree. Currently, I'm in college pursuing that degree.
After submitting my application and letter of interest, I was immediately contacted for an interview. However, I thought it only fair to inform my potential employer of my class schedule which would interfere slightly with my availability, requiring me to be an hour late for any Mon-Thurs. evening shift. I could however work days or evenings Fri-Sun. The job is part time and I would work 3 shifts a week so I did not think this would be a huge issue. However, my potential employer wanted to make sure he could accommodate my schedule before bringing me in for an interview, saying that they had just made a new hire who had not even gone through training yet, and thanked me for my patience. I sent a letter thanking him, but that was almost a month ago and I still have not heard anything.
Today, a friend who works there told me that he complained to her in passing about how he needs to hire another person because he is having trouble filling weekend shifts. That would be perfect for me and my friend urged me to email him again, saying she, and another girl who worked there had to email him a ton too before beginning to work there.
My question is this: Should I email him again? He made it seem like he'd get back to me, and I don't want to seem like I'm pestering him, or desperate, but what if he forgot about me due to the stress of training the other new hire. Should I just wait patiently to hear from him? This is my dream job, and I do need the money. What should I say in the email if I do message him?
Thanks!
