I'm a fairly avid hiker but I don't typically go on trips that last longer than a week. I typically hike pretty steep and unstable terrain. Up until now I've been borrowing various friends' spare backpacks and mooching off my employers gear. I figured that after 7 months of this it might be time to buy my own. I found some pretty good prices on some Teton backpacks that have internal frames. But then I looked at other brands that didn't have prices anywhere near as low as Teton's which makes me suspicious.
I guess really what I'm looking for is criteria for a good hiking backpack.
