what should i do with my car seats?

i have a 78 malibu with a bench seat its tore on the end just a little i have been thinking about taking it out but ppl have told me to leave it in i wanted some racing seats but there expensive. i am only 17 with a minimum wage job. should i leave the bench in or throw it out. the malibu is pretty fast 350 stroked the f*** out with a column shifter...what should i do trying to restore to bring it out next spring for my graduation
