What should I do to winterize my little Dodge Neon?

The tread on the passenger side front and rear tires is wearing down. Guys at Sears have been encouraging me to get those replaced. I'd like to get all four replaced.

Should I get winter tires or just do all-season? Isn't all-season just as effective? Or do winter tires really do that much better of a job gripping the snow and ice?

Any and all winterizing suggestions welcome.

Thanks!! ;-)

All-season tires will never match 100% winter tires. There is big difference in grip and traction. If you have around 500 bucks you can get steel wheels with winter tires for winter and when you save up little bit more you can get summer tires to get installed on wheels you currently have. You'll just have to switch between winter and summer tires twice a year.

Also don't forget to check if you have washer fluid that can withstand colder temperatures so it won't freeze and rupture your lines.
