What should i do if my car insurer is asking me about my car mileage?

i lease a car a year ago and my car insurer is asking me to report my mileage to them but i went way over the 12 thousand miles yearly allowed so i dont kno if i should tell them the truth or do they have another way to find out my real mileage in case i dont tell them the exact number. help me out
