What should I do I did something really bad to him and the guilt is eating at me!!!?

Ok so there's this guy named buc fake name btw. Anyway me and two of my friends took buc's backpack and then we ran an hid it from him. And then we wen through his bag and found that therwas as some thing in there that I found but wasn't supposed to see and now I feel all guilty for looking through his bag and what not but I don't know how to apologize to him. Shoul I just

( a) say I'm sorry and hug and make up
( b) just let it be and don't apologize
( c) make a joke of it and hug and make up
