What should I do? Fix my car or trade it in with the repair $ ?

Should I get my car fixed (It needs a new transmission) and I am buying it on time. Or should I trade it in for something that doesn't need a new transmission? The engine has already been replaced with a used engine, it runs and
I owe about half of the balance still.
It is not in my name yet, as I am buying it and making payments.
I don't have a warranty.
The $ for the new transmission could go towards a down payment for another vehicle?

How much does the shop want for the transmission repair? What went wrong and what options did they give you? Are they trying to sell you a new tranny, a used one, or a re-build on the one in the car?

How much do you owe yet on this car? How many miles on the car itself and the new engine? Have you been taking care of the car?

All these questions would help us determine how to help you. It is impossible to determine the most logical course of action without knowing exact amounts and what happened.
