m bf and i are commonlaw. i have an 18 month old son but my bf n i have been officially together 17 months,we are both in school. . . him for business equivelant to college if it doesnt count as actual college. i am in an adult school to get some mandatory credits i would need to get into rpn. .. i am planning and hoping to take psw next year tho because i have debt holding me back from rpn i gotta get thru and i dont have to pay a debt b4 the psw.
my "income" is only 475 from baby bonus. my bf gets 1250 from his dad from a savings account.
our rent is 800
hydro 100
water 80
groceries 400
phone/internet (needed for school) 200
baby needs 250
i wont qualify for welfare here because we "make" more then what they give. i know because i use to get a cas check b4 i moved in with my bf and i tried for welfare and was told i made nearly $100 more.and when i asked if my bf moving in would make a difference and they said no it would only bring a welfare check up another 50.
my bf's mom now is telling me i need to bring income in so its not all on my bf. . . but in order to do that i would have to drop out and get a full time job some how. but she agrees with me that would be a stupid idea. . . .she also is the one who convinced me to go back and said things would work out if we both were back in school. but now she is telling me i need to get more income or he shouldnt be living with me and my son. even if we qualified for welfare they only give 500 for rent for two (me n my son) or 550 for three. . . . around here u cant find a bachelor for less then 550 + hydro. our place is a 2 bdrm, and 800 n thats cheap compared to the rest of the town that isnt geared to income (which im on the list but have a 6-7 year wait) and so whatever else came with the cheque after amount for rent (groceries and such) would end up going toward rent anyway
majority of ppl round here that is on welfare with children and not in geared to income housing have to deal to survive. i dont want to do that. and i dont want to drop out of school or else i will be forever stuck in poverty. what can i do? am i missing other assistnces somewhere? should i just forget school?
