my son is 15 and got his learners permit 4 months ago, a couple of nights ago, I woke up around 2 and went to check on my son. (I usually don't do this but I was just up) and I noticed his bed was empty, and his phone was gone. So obviously he snuck out and I was angry but not too angry, but I look outside and my car is gone.
I was beyond furious, and I called him but he didn't answer so I waited by the front door for him to get home.
He got home about 20 minutes later, and when he walked in he immediately started to explain why he took the car.
His girlfriend, which he's been dating for about 5 months. Called him drunk and crying because she was stranded from a party, so he took my car and picked her up and dropped her off at home and than came straight home.
He seemed really sincere about it, and so I sent him to bed and said we'd discuss it in the morning.
I don't know what to do about this situation, because if I was in his position I probably would have done the same thing.
What is the proper thing to do?
