What should i consider when buying a bmx bike, i am not a pro at bikin so

whats good for a novice.? also how do i find a good deal without going broke lol is it cool getting a bike off craigslist or something?

*this would be for general use so i guess just cruising the city maybe some outdoor biking
by outdoor biking i mean like more dirt trails, wilderness type stuff lol
 
If its for general use then why not get a normal sized bike? BMX bikes are small so that the rider can perform tricks on it much easier, but its really not the most comfortable to ride on due to its small size. Either way, look at Pawn shops or garage sales. Craigs list is dangerous and iffy, just make sure you dont go meet the person who's selling it alone, and that you meet in a crowded area like a parking lot or gas station. Make sure you dont see any rust in the gears or bars and that it actually rides.
