Remember C is common to every computer in existence, it was used to create operating systems quite a long time ago. Still very predominant in programming languages and creation of software, programs and operating system files. I don't know very much about perl programming. C programming language would open up many different opportunities, but that would be your decision. Understand most companies require a person to know a specific programming language to support their business and requirements. This would tend to place a limit on the opportunities you would have available.
Wish you the best in your decision.
