I ride to work and home every day. Its about a forty minute commute both ways on my own bike. When I get to work I ride the work bike which is smaller cc.
The work bike trainer guy continually harasses me about my own bike. eg...she has music on her own bike make sure she doesn't wear it on our bike....why are you not wearing works protective gear on your own bike....why are you wearing works jacket without the protective gear underneath on your own bike (apparently he has xray vision)..you have been spotted speeding on your own bike wearing the work uniform.
Now I change into my own teeshirt in summer so as not to 'malign my companies name by not wearing full padding' but if I wear the rain jacket he wants to know what I am wearing underneath on my OWN BIKE!!!
Work managment has told me off for speeding on my own bike. I have tried to be polite and reasonable but thats my ride and I will do whatever I like and I don't try to tell them how to drive or what to wear in their cars. Whats more this guy is a freakin' idiot who only rides about two days a week in fine weather to showboat it.
Shall I just tell them.."I won't discuss what I do on my own bike, just like I don't discuss my personal or sex life with you."?
Do you reckon they harass me cos I am not playing enough hard ball? None of the guys at my work get harassed like this only me. And frankly its a bit of a culture of "I have a motorbike therefore I have balls" and I am beginning to wonder if they are harassing me cos they feel I might be undermining their masculinity. Which...lets face it..if its attached to riding a bike isn't worth all that much anyway.
I ride cos I love it. Not for looks. Why do they keep harassing me?
