I mainly listen to rock and just some rap. I want a clear and natural sound, but i also want there to be some desently powerful, tight bass. i am looking around the 1,500 range....not over 2,000....any suggestions?

first thing is upgrade.

speakers and wireing

run gold plated cables from head unit to speakers and upgrade the stock speakers.

i went from 15w stock to 250w speakers (250w each = 1000w total)

i whould sugest if you want the base there but not in your face a 12 or 15inch as that has more of a rumble then a in your face punch.

add some 6x9's as they make all the difference.

i whould sugest 2 seperate amps as you can control the levels of bass and treble levels more accuratly.

a good start if you have no system setup already whould to buy a package deal.

that way you will get all the wireing, amps, connection, speakers that you need.

First I would not go to crazy in the bass dept. I would spend as much money on your door/dash speakers as you do your sub/subs.

As far as subs, if you like rock I would suggest a couple high power 10s. Then be sure you have adequate power. I would have every speaker run through a crossover and amp. Forget using the head unit to power anything. If you are getting an after market head unit spend your dollars on quality rather than high power/bells and whistles. Let you amps to the powering and dont skimp on power. An under powered system will always sound like crap period.

hope that helps a little.
