When you flush your (expired) pills down the drain, it pollutes the water. The toilet water is cleaned before it goes in the ocean, but treatment plants aren't designed to get rid of these medications.
Usually, you would take care of your own medicine, but I have to do community service involving this topic (it's too late to change this now). We thought of collecting people's expired medicine before, but we can't do this (people might think we're going to eat it or sell it). Passing out fliers is an option, but you can't get 10+ service hours this way. We could man collection drop-offs at the hospital, but only if the hospital lets us. What can we do?
This question can fit in both the community service and environmental categories.
