What service is better for a devoted couple, the Army, or the Marines?

My fiance is planning on joining the service in hopes of finding a more dependable career than his current job(construction(laborer). He was not able to join the navy, because supposedly the Navy is not accepting any tattoo waivers right now. Is the Army his only other option (service wise)? What would be better, the Army or the Marines? (i'm currently a full-time student at a UC school). So there would be distance for a while.
 
Well, I just finished my enlistment in the marine corps in april, and you fiance might want to check with a recruiter before assuming he will get a tattoo waiver in the marines. when i enlisted they werent very strict with tattoos and i got a bunch while in. however during my last year they put alot of restrictions on tattoos, including not allowing marines who didnt already have visible tattoos to get visible tattoos. i personally think that is super lame and will probably change when a new commandant comes in. but ya, i didnt know they were doing tattoo waivers considering they b*tch about current marines having them. and as far as having a fimily while in, stay FAR away from the infantry no matter what branch you join!!!
