I am a South Asian-American, Hindu, who was a Hillary supporter. I am voting for McCain. I am not voting for him because I am racist or think that Obama is Muslim. I know he is more experienced and less radical. He will make a better president.
However, I am curious as to the role of religion in presidential elections. Here are my questions:
1. Does the president of the United States have to be Protestant or at least Christian?
2. If there were two candidates, and you agreed with candidate A 100% of the time but they were not Christian and you agreed with candidate B 50-60% of the time and they were Christian (religious) who would you vote for? Would it change if they were not a good Chrisitan (gambled, affairs, lie, etc.)?
3. Are all non-Christian religions equally off-limits (Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.)? Or are some preferable to others? Where do atheists rank?
