What road bike should i get?

Oh, and i'll be keeping this bike for a long long time.... so it has to be good!
So, just to let you guys know, i'm a total amateur with bikes. So i want a road bike. I'll only be riding it on roads. I'd probably be riding it sometimes for 5+ hours at a time. I'd like to go on like 65 miles trips. Or cover a total of 65 miles. Though most time, i'll probably only ride it like 30 miles total. I don't know what the handles are called, but i want the curved ones..not straight ones. I don't really care about the gears. 5, 6, 7 are alright for me. Is that alright?? Or do you think i'd need more. Like a said i'm an amateur..ha ha.
Also, i want it to be able to go fast and far, using the least amount of energy from me, as possible!!! Because like, i said, i'll be riding on it for hours straight.

And lastly (i think), i need it to be $699 at most!!!!!! The cheaper the better....i'm broke.

Can you find a bike for me???

if your curious, i live in austin, tx. Live right on MERIDIAN PARK BLVD near I45 and S Mopac. So that about tells you the roads i'll be encountering. I'll mostly be riding from their to like around congress and the capital. I might ride to san antonio from austin.

You wont be ridding any bike under $1000 as far as you want too or would like too for very long, it wont hold up the way you intend to use a road bike. If you are broke or can only come up with $700 then you need to wait a bit longer so you can get something of a better quality unless you find a better used bike with higher end components than a $700 new bike will have on it. 5, 6, and 7 speed bikes no longer exist new, 8 speed is the minimum now. Any 8 speed road bike you can get for $700 will have the sora group from shimano and it just wont be as likely to hold up with the kind of ridding you want to do. Any bike you get will go only as fast and far as the rider sitting on the seat will or can make it go. The bike by itself can do nothing. A 62mile ride is called a metric century, just short of a century ride, sure you're up for that all at once?....its not a drop in the bucket of a ride. Go REI.com and check out their sale prices, they have several solid bikes around your price range. I wonder if they have a Trek outlet in Austin, that's where they used to (and probably still do) put Lance Armstrong's bikes together.
