AN UNHOLY MERGE:

Author unknown

As standardization rests on its shoulders, so too the beauty of the world entire
As expectation envelops its prospects, so too the chance to declare the cynic wiser
As admiration strains its patience, so too an incubus is defied
Yet, though it exists to impress, so too can the mind rescind

As its distortion annuls beauty, so too the distinction between seraph and demon
As its implications spurn fear, so too the fall of man and dominion
As its tragedy is realised, so too the loss of a greater inspiration
Yet, with irony pungent, the greatest tragedy is without the mind’s distortion

As their ideals are challenged, so too the bonds both deep and tenuous
As their order is disturbed, so too the stand of morals meritorious
As their methods defy pediments, so too go remnants of simple humanity
Yet, though the group is indebted, so becomes the invalid a deficiency

Yet why must the mind, in harmony and beauty reside-
Yet why must a madness, in horrid and anathema allied-
Yet why must a group, with value and ethic fragile-
As for what reason, for cruel fate the catalyst a man, do they entangle?
