Well I worked in Jamaica and we had it on the menu and they are shucked from the shells of the boats and the shell are either used for the tourist or thrown back in to the ocean and the hermit crabs take them over, with all the intestines and parts removed, they do not travel well, now in Chicago, in the Asian area you may see winkles, a form of conch from the Pacific Ocean, they are popular with most of the Asian people, there alot smaller about 1/3 the size of a conch shell
