Briefly, I bought a Jeep to tow with from a 4x4 specialist. The tow bar crumbled with rust first time I hitched up. It was all corroded underneath despite 1yr's MOT adn overheated first time out. He exchange it for an Isuzu Trooper. Good towbar, and a good car to drive, so I thought. Took it to my local garage for winter check, they said it was dangerous and unroadworthy rust-bucket that should never have passed its MOT. Phoned dealer again and asked for my money back He said that wasn't going to happen.

He swapped it for a Range Rover which he left running - I had to meet him on the city bypass at a petrol station. When I switched it off to get petrol, bit wouldn't start, so he had left me stranded in a dud. I had to get RAC out and buy a new battery on the way home.Again it had 1 yrs MOT. It had so many faults that it's impossible to list - bonnet not closing properly, airbags not working, ABS not working, towbar not aligned with electrics so couldn't get the towbar lights plug in.

He refused to answer my calls. Neighbour has bought it for a nominal sum so that at least I can recoup some of my money and get something - I need a tow vehicle quickly and can't afford to have money out on a heap of unusable junk. (He is a 4x4 buff and will work away on it.)

Oh, a couple of weeks after receiving initial Jeep I got a DVLA letter acknowledging that I had scrapped it, so despite his glowing ads, it was a heap.

I have his address ( he works via a mobile, but I had to get an address to send the reg documents for the Jeep), the recepits, DVLA letter and RAC call-out report. Is there anything I can do, or just accept that I have been taken for a ride and hope what goes around comes around....
