What problems should I expect from a 2005 C50

I just bought a 2005 C50 that had nothing wrong (except for an engine knock) that they tried to hide from me. I found th eissue and it should be a reasobable fix but now I am woried that someone had had the top end apart before. The bike has 30k on it I have found that the previous owner has changed out the #1 injecor, disconnected two wires from the bottom of the tank, and has pulled the heads off for an unknown reason. Are these bikes knownto have any issues at 30k, what is expected out of them? It also has VH pipes sounded good not sure how well it ran as I babied it onto a trailer before tearing it down.

Thanks

I have 31,500 miles on my 05 C50SE.
The only problem I have had was the ignition had to be replaced at 28,000.
Some 05's had a recall on the wiring/ignition.
Do a search on that, the numbers affected are out there.

That forum has loads of info available.
Also the service manual is out there in a pdf file.

50 to 75 thousand is an average. Some have up to 100 some less than 30 most engine failures are from people not checking their oil levels as the bikes tend to use oil as they age. I have an 07 with nearly 23000 and it still doesnt use any between changes but I check it often anyhow.

I'm sorry, but that strikes me as a pretty funny statement- kind of like saying, "Other than that, President Lincoln had an enjoyable night at the theater."

These bikes are good ones with few issues- unless something major happens like a rod knock, in which case the cost of repairs usually is greater than the value of the bike. If you can do all the work yourself you can cut repairs costs considerably, but you have to be very dilligent. CAREFULLY inspect every part- the internal clearances are very tight, so if the big end of a rod is moving around or the crank bearings are shot there is often damage to the engine cases that can not be repaired. If you escape this, do a good job rebuilding, replace every bearing and seal, and you should get another 50K out of it. If the cases are damaged junk the motor and buy a used one form a wrecked C50, or a wrecked M50- the motors are not identical but they are pretty darn close so the interchange just fine.
