We sped through galaxies like burning gardens
and longtravelling light linked your eye
with mine, there in the hollow part of time
as seams unbroken, our light years
outdistanced our dark, and many sun flowers
burst our dreams, and there were
alien moons that orbited the heart.

Somehow the continents of night were sinking
and the huge wild gardens disappeared.
Love, we endured love as the night endured
its sun and stars, and finally far blackness
was the meaning of our light.
And O, we had meant forever to rewrite
the mathematics of a thousand worlds
and chase escaping suns
down fiery paths of night.

But a collision of love stole time and breath
in a garden whose flowers were flames
which burned beyond death.
