fz18 digital SLR? Well christmas is coming up and my family is way tight on money, but i really want a photography package studio which i know is a load of money, but if i can find at least the two lights with the umbrellas and maybe just maybe the background stands for cheap i will really be the happiest person on earth, im a beginner in photography so it doesn't have to be major or extreme professional at least something or anything in the $100-$200 range, but remember it has to be compatible with the (panasonic lumix dmc- fz18 digital slr), please i really want this, i need the best help or advice i can get.

Assuming that such a setup may not be compatible with your camera tells us a lot about some of the problems you may encounter with such a lighting setup. What made you think your camera is a DSLR? It is not. It is a SLR-like P&S camera. What distinguishes a DSLR form other cameras is the interchangeable lenses, fully adjustable controls and a sensor that is over 15 times larger than a P&S camera. Your cameras sensor is only 0.24 cm² and a typical DSLR's sensor is 3.72 cm².

A good two lamp, 500 watt setup with stands and umbrellas will cost around just under $450

The background stand is just around $100.

You can light using 500 watt work lights from one of the stores like Home Depot until you can afford a proper lighting setup.

Just having a good camera and the right lights will not guarantee you will be able produce good studio shots without some training or at least study how lighting works so you can 'see' what the lighting is doing as you move the lamps around.

fhotoace has got this spot on.

Your camera is a very nice one... but its not a DSLR and wont work properly with a full fledged studio... As fhotoace has posted links to various items, at there possible best prices, take a look and see what you can afford. Also i would recommend going for a dslr and reading up on how to use it..

Good Luck!!
