What phone should I get? Sidekick III? No? Help!

Alright, so in about 2 or so months my contract is ending with AT&T/Cingular and I'm going to be getting my own plan. I have had my Sony Ericsson S710a for about 1.5 years now and I absolutly love it but I think when I sign up for whatever service, I will be getting a new phone (even though I have the phone unlocked)

After my gf getting her Sidekick II I was pretty excited to hear about the SKIII but now I don't know if I want it or if it's worth it. I love how T-mobile has the data plan with the sidekick and I am always texting and on AIM, so that was one of the big reasons why I am drawn to the phone, but I am opening up my eyes to other suggestions.

What I would love is:
Atleast 1.3mpix camera, better is always a plus
video playback/record better than the S710a
internet/aim
"futuristic look" basically just a cool factor or something new from a phone
those are some main wants

Please help!

If you like smartphones I would recommend SE P990i (symbian UIQ) or Samsung i750 (Windows mobile 5) , though none of them dont have any special futuristic look but they are great phones.

ok, lets get real now. The only reason MOST people consider the sidekick series is because its a head turner. If u can get over the fact that the sidekick is only good for texting then there are alot of phones that take the SK in features. I would get a SE phone, mainly the w900, w810, or even the w600. And if u want a smart phone, go with the Cingular 2125. Windows Media 10 and like 300+ fricken hours of video recording. With the memory card of course.

Any other suggestions?

Also, I'm looking for a plan something that the Sidekick offers. Unlimited internet/text/picture messaging/etc.

Is there any service that will do that other than the T-mobile data plan?

If you don't care about price then just get the Sidekick 3. It has everything you need, and it will "wow" people with its look. On the other hand this phone isn't worth it considering its features the time it was released and its price. A phone with the features the Sidekick 3 has is maybe 120-140 dollars. But that's America for you. If you want a phone for unlimited text messaging and every messege possible then just get a phone with a keyboard; and then get an unlimited texting plan. The LG 9200 has that check it out seems cool.

The Sidekick is a child's device. It won't turn heads as much, cause every other teenager is going to have one, just like they have the razr. Get a different phone, such as a smartphone.

I think that is entirely your opinion. I know plenty of sidekick users, and I have never heard that reason come out of their mouths.

I would say go with a Nokia E61 or a Nokia 9300. Both great phones. Wifi/edge/qwerty/symbian. Just to name a few.

I think he is reffering to the childish OS the sidekick has. Everything is cartoon-ish and the marketing seems geared more towards preteens. As a 16 year old, I hate the look of the screens. If they had a more executive looking theme you could swap in, they would gain a lot more users...

I have a sidekick 3 right now, and it does turn a lot of heads.

Keep in mind..

*T-Mobile's coverage is AWFUL!
*You will get addicted very quickly
*The phone's design makes it very delicate
*They tend to have a lot of defects.

One of the major defects right now is the battery life. If you plan on using this phone for a whole day, I will point and laugh at you. I have to charge it 1-3 times a day just so it wont drop below 45%.

Right now, I am considering moving to nextel. Personally, if you want to be labeled as one of those cliche people you see on all those stupid MTV shows and such, get the sk3. Otherwise, consider a different phone.

Remember that this verries a lot by location. Here in Tallahassee FL, T-Mobile is one of the better carriers along with Verizon & Sprint while Cingular drops all over. Anyone who tries to use Cingular on the west side of the FSU campus drops them like a bad habit before a week is out.

These points however, I can agree with. The SK3 while a good easy to use phone for what it was designed for, it does seem to still be in the open beta phase, and has some bugs yet to be squashed .
