what permission do i need to display a sports team logo on my website?

I wish I could be certain like those previous answerers (even though they completely contradicted each other), but I'm not. What I can do is check out some other websites that cover NBA teams. A quick survey found that NONE of them show the logo of the team they're covering on their website. With that evidence, I'm going to guess that yes, you do need permission, and no, you're probably not going to get it.
 
I am in the process of making a website about a few sports teams and was wondering if I need permission to display the team logo on the site.
