What period of time do shows on TV use when them discuss 200 day moving average?

When I look at a stock graph on yahoo finance, I have the 50 and 200 day moving average displayed. Why is it that when I change from let's say a 5-day period to a 6 month period graph (or whatever) that the stock graph line changes with respect to the 2 moving avaerages?

What time period do TV stock shows like CNBC use when they display moving averages?

They do in fact represent the most recent 200 days (business days of course). However, you are comparing apples and oranges when you try to compare a moving average to a graph for a specific time period. Remember, a "moving average" is an average of averages which is quite different from just a graph of raw data over the same time period. They are meant to show different things for different reasons.
