because, majority of the week, I ride my bike for 30 minutes a day [unless it's not suitable weather], not like mountain biking, but usually up and down my neighborhood, in which there are some hills along the way. So what exactly on the body does bike riding work on?

Cycling works mainly your leg muscles. It is a well rounded sport for training you legs. But it specifically works you quads and your glucs. Especially if you are riding hills. To get all namey on you the Quadriceps and gluteus maximus. It does work your calf muscles but not as much.

If you are looking for bulk it will not give you big muscles. But instead it will give you toned muscles.

Your legs, you should be able to feel what muscles it works. Climbing hills will use you hamstring and gluts more and also you upper and lower abs and biceps. Riding on the level uses you quads, thigh, and calf muscles more and less on the hamstring and gluts.

Pedaling at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's with a lite pressure on the pedals will keep you legs from getting tired.
