What papers do I need to file with the court if I am the Respondent (in CA)?

I just receive a copy of the divorce papers. I want to file a response, but I am not sure what other papers i need to fill out beside the response form.
What else do I need to hand into the court house?
Do I have to serve the Petitioner with any other paperwork if I do this?
Other questions:
Can a judge issue his verdict before the 6 month waiting period? (we have been separated for 8 months)
Is it true that after 6 month and 1 day the divorce is granted or do I have to complete an "request for judgment"?

This to note for the answerers-No custody issues and the marital agreement has been agreed upon.

There seems to be very little or no information for respondents of divorce. I want to make sure that I am doing everything correct to protect myself.

Thank you for those who help.
