Chess should not be considered a sport because it does not involve, physical endurance, stamina, athleticism, agility, hand eye cordination or any form of physical strength (besides using the muscles that allow to sit down properly).

I know India used to be good at field hockey with a World Championship win in 1975 and runner-up in 1973 but they haven't done anything since.
They also won 8 gold medals in field hockey at the olympics btwen 1928 and 1980. Although they seemed to have lost interest in hockey in the past 35 years.
