...help improve a skill (read please!)? What does swimming, running, stretching, biking, etc. help improve?

"etc." means you may list other sports or physical activities a freshman would participate in.

By "improve," I mean what skill would it improve.

Example:

Swimming - flexibility
Stretching - flexibility
Running - agility
 
Flexibility - swimming, basketball, stretching, volleyball, track and field, ultimate frisbee, gymnastics, martial arts...

Speed and agility - Running, basketball, volleyball, track and field, soccer and all other field sports, tennis

Endurance - Long distance running, swimming, work out, martial arts, tenis

other notable athletic skills:

Lung capacity - swimming, long distance running
Improvisatory decisions - team sports
Strength and power - work out, gymnastics, running, tennis, track and field
Jumping - Track and Field (specifically long jump and high jump), basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee.
 
running has nothing to do with agility.

take up hockey, so you can learn to skate, haha
