...Adobe Flash? I wanna get into creating flash games, but I really don't like Adobe. I feel like most of their products are overpriced. After I look around a little I usually find something cheaper or even free that does everything I need it to just as well. For example, I use GIMP instead of Photoshop. Before I spend a lot of money (I think Flash Professional is like $700) on an a product I wanna consider my other options first.

At this time I don't believe there are any open source apps that can create swf files directly, although there might be some than can export as .swf.
If you are a student you could look into getting Adobe's Creative Suite at a major discount; the entire suite will cost you less than buying the retail Flash Pro package.
