Generally you want to avoid gouramis, guppies, fish with longer fins that resemble the betta, and any known fin nippers like barbs.
But what you may choose is limited by tank size. So please provide that in a detail.
~Because of your tank size no other fish are an option. An upgrade to a ten gallon would give you more choices, but as it is I would only add a few ghost shrimp.
