What 'OS' is in my phone?

I'm currently using an LG VX-8300.

I've read about the various 'OS'es that are used in cell-phones, such
as 'Symbian', etc.

So, my question is:
How do I figure out what OS happens to be in my cellphone?
And, what version? :confused2

[Should I be able to retrieve that info from one of the sub-menu
items?]

TIA...

Ok, that makes sense. And fits what I see when I navigate to
'Phone Info'-> SW-Version, where it starts off saying:
SW Version:
T83VZV01

an then below that, there are other 'sub-systems' and their version #s.

Such as:

PRL Version
PRL 51284

ERI Version
ERI 4

etc, etc.

Anyone know what 'PRL' or 'ERI' stand for, or do? :confused2

Also: Furthermore, I'm told that my phone does NOT allow any
'Java applications', and judging from that whole list of SW and versions, I agree that nothing there relates to Java.

So, my Verizon/Java-related question is:
Does Verizon offer any phones that DO support Java? :confused2
[I'm assuming that maybe the 'Mobile' OS-based ones do!?]
