I have Helio/Virgin mobile service which I love but, I absolutely hate the phones that they provide. I would like to get a different brand of phone. Could I hook it up to a black berry, iphone, or whatever that isn't a helio phone. I would like a phone that is 3G and that has great battery life.
I also would like to know when I find the phone how would I hook it up being that its not a Helio/Virgin mobile phone. Please let me know of any ideas and suggestion because I'm in desperate need of a new phone.

Thanks!

The bad news. At the current time, Virgin Mobile has one of the most locked down phone systems on the market. It is so tight that you cannot use even Helio/Virgin Mobile contract phones like the Ocean series on the Virgin Mobile prepaid side and vice versa, let alone other carrier phones.

The good news. Sprint USA bought out VM /Helio two weeks ago. Expect changes. Hopefully, their phone policy will be one of them.
VM runs on the Sprint network anyway. Sprint allows Boost cdma to use Sprint phones and Boost walkie talkie to use Nextel ones. Page Plus runs on Verizon and they accept Verizon, Page Plus and Straight Talk phones onto their system. Metro and Cricket can flash Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, US Cellular, Cellular South, Alltel and other cdma/non sim phones to their older service/non Trimode market areas , Tmobile and Att both allow you to use any unlocked gsm sim phone on their networks.

With Sprint running the show at VM now, it could be a future possibility to have at least say Sprint phones running on VM.

VM lost 250,000 users last quarter, wonder how many left because of the phone selection limitations.
