Hi there!

I, like most on this board, had been on every PPI for about seven years, still suffering. I wanted to share what helped me, just in case it could give someone a cure or the least bit of relief. I have been using Motts 100% Apple Juice for several months now to calm my acid reflux. There is something about apples that seems to help neutralize the excess acid in the stomach. I have a small glass after meals and another before bed. (I use small glasses because the fiber in the juice is extremely effective in staying regular elsewhere). I slowly tapered off Nexium, and am now completely off it, using my apple juice to help me. I don't think it absolutely has to be the Motts brand, I believe Minute Maid has their own 100% Apple Juice that comes in cans. I can't guarantee you anything, but I do believe it is worth a try. Natural solutions are of course, ideal. Apple juice is certainly cheaper, with no side effects!

Hope this helps someone, somewhere.

This is wonderful you have found a juice that has made a difference.
Thanks for sharing what has helped you. The apple juice would also be a lot less in cost than the Nexium too. So good you are feeling results.

thanks for sharing this. I was tyring apple cider vinegar + honey corabo for 3 weeks and it didn't help me, so I'm still on my PPI's..gonna give a try to apple juice.

I no longer have acid reflux and I resolved it the natural way..

I lost a lot of weight. About 140lbs.

I am not sure how often its related to weight. I was over 300lbs
and I had bad acid reflux as well as sleep apnea. 2 or 3
times a year I would wake up in the middle of the night
with my throat totally closed off because of the acid problem.
It would take me a minute or so to relax before my throat would
open. I also snored pretty bad and had a sleep study that recommended
I get a CPAP for my apnea.

Now with the weight off I don't have either one of these problems anymore.

I just wanted to share my expereince and hope it can help others.

I think there's quite a bit of research to suggest that the explosion of GERD and the prescribing of GERD medications definitely is related to how obese our country has become. We bring on most of our own health problems. Of course there are plenty of people with reflux who are not obese, too. I'm not obese or even close to obese, but I had gained a good 15 pounRAB in recent years and am at my heaviest now - or was, until these past 3 months of LPR had me on a pretty effective weight loss program!

From what I understand we have an area in front of our stomach called the
omentum. When we are overweight or obese, the omentum is enlarged and
helps cause the "beer belly" look and pushes against the stomach caising it
to sit at an angle and aiRAB in the problem of acid reflux.

Other causes of problems with enlarged omentum is poor diet.
