What Mountain Bike Tyre To Buy?

Going to be going Wales to do some single track mountain bike stuff. What tyres should I get? Will be doing the popular trails up there. Also want the tyres to be good on wet tree roots as thats what my local forest has a lot of!

Do I need to match the front and rear tyre. My front tyre has plenty of tread just need to change the back one.

I have a Kona Blast hard tail.
