What minimum specs do I need to choose a bicycle tire?

The make of the bike makes NO difference when choosing a tire .... All you need is the info found on the existing tire and a close match in width will do it for you!
 
Is knowing the diameter and rim width enough to buy a tire/tube for my bicycle or do I need to be concerned about the model and brand of my bicycle?
 
tire diameter ( 20, 24, 26 inch etc)

rim width ( racing tires can be as narrow as .75 inch and up to 100 PSI, while an 'offroad' or BMX tire can be as wide as 2 1/2 inches and much lower pressure like 35 PSI)

Brand name is irelevant... just take a look at the old tire and get the numbers off the old tire and you should be ok.
