What might cause a slight static noise while playing Grand Theft Auto 4 for

Playstation 3? I have the 80gb PS3 hooked up to 32" Samsung LCD with HDMI cable and sometimes during gameplay, I hear a slight static noise or distortion. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this and what the solution may be?
