what may cause 2001 Honda CR-V auto trans to delay shifting up?

I recently bought a 2001 Honda CR-V with an auto trans and over 100,000 miles. At first it seemed to shift fine, but then it seemed to delay shifting between 30-40 mph, I think that is between 2nd and 3rd gear. It will rev up over 4,000 rpm before going to the next gear up. When it revs really high up, there is also a vibrating sound that the car does not seem to make when revving that high while parked.

Maybe I am just getting nervous at having an old car. But is there anything simple that could cause and cure the transmission not shifting right, or is this a sign my car is soon doomed? And what RPM SHOULD a CR-V shift between various gears?
