What makes hazel eyes look the way they do? Can someone explain Rayleigh Scattering?

I've read up on hazel eyes, and came across the term Rayleigh Scattering as part of the reasonfor the distinctive coloring. I understand that RS is what makes sunlight does to make the sky appear blue, I just can't make my brain compute how this relates to hazel eyes.
